What Are
Special Nibs |
|
They are
nibs conferring an effect on your
handwriting: the oblique (O) and the italics
are based on the same principle and allow a
calligraphic style. In Italic nibs the
thickness of the line varies by means of a
differentiated shaping of the point: thin
profile, broad frontal part.

Nancy Olson from Stylus Magazine,
Glen Bowen from Pen World Magazine- and Jon
Messer, Pen Magazine writer.

|
Ribbon
Like Effect |
Thanks to that shape, the
vertical lines will be thick and horizontal
lines will be thin.

Mr. Mel Strohminger writer and contributor of
Stylus Magazine.
|
|
The 52
Degrees |
The 52 degrees offers more
options than the Italic one in terms of
thickness interchange ability of the line: 52
degrees is the “even” angle, the angle that the
pen, on average, forms while writing. If you
lower the angle of the pen below 52 degrees, the
thickness of the horizontal line will be
affected and become broader, while vertically it
will get thinner. On the other hand, if the
angle that the pen forms with the paper is more
than 52 degrees, the thickness of the horizontal
line will be become thinner, while vertically it
will get broader nib.

Fountain
Pens |

Fountain
pens are often prized as works of art.
Ornate pens are sometimes made of precious
metals and jewels; others are inlaid with
lacquer designs in a process known as maki-e.

Pen
Collectors |
|
| |
An avid community of pen enthusiasts collect
and use antique and modern pens and also
collect and exchange information about old
and modern inks, ink bottles, and inkwells.
Collectors often tend to prize being able to
actually use the antiques, instead of merely
placing them under glass for show.

pen repair and famous pen collector.

Pen
Repair |
|
| |
This
is not to say that all fountain pens are so
called "expensive collectors' items" (you
can, of course, collect anything), however;
good quality steel pens are available
cheaply, particularly in Europe, and there
are even some "disposable" fountain pens
available. All of them can be refurbished to
"as new condition" by experienced pen repair
specialists like:

Mr. Phil Phillips Pen Repair Specialist for
Waterman.
